Afghan politician Ahmad Wali Massoud gave his opinion about Taliban being a future threat to Kazakhstan, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. “If Talibs seize North Afghanistan, they will move to Tajikistan and after that they may be of some threat to Kazakhstan,” said the agency's source. As per Massoud, the movement is supported by “sponsors” from Pakistan, which “upkeep it as a threat to Kazakhstan, Russia and China.” Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Afghan talibs warned Kazakhstan that its decision to deploy troops to support NATO in Afghanistan will have grave consequences. Later Dr. Tariq, a spokesman for IEA, told that the Emirate did not threaten Kazakhstan. “It was not a threat. It was a way the IEA responded to the Kazakh parliament’s decision to send troops to Afghanistan. It was not a warning that something is going to actually happen”, he elaborated.
